Texas leads the nation in wind power production.  While the strongest winds are located along ridgetops in mountainous areas, the Great Plains from Texas to North Dakota contain the preponderance of the nation’s wind power potential. (source: Infinite Power )

Texas has the most wind turbines  and largest wind farm (The Roscoe Wind Complex)  with 421 turbines that can generate enough to power 220,000 homes per year.
